Stitch by Stitch
Stitch by Stitch creates handmade textiles for the home working with artisan weavers, embroiderers and quilt makers in Kutch, Gujarat, India and Nepal. The textiles are hand woven, hand spun, made with natural fibres, traditional techniques and predominantly natural dyes. The collections comprise organic cotton kantha quilts, felted wool rugs, and handloom wool cushions and blankets, all which have a certain quality of weight and tactility. The textiles are designed in the UK, and ethically produced in India and Nepal. The artisans who produce the collections are all self-employed, and many are home based workers who are given structure through local organisations, such as the respected SABAH in Nepal. Passionate about preserving skills and traditions, Stitch by Stitch are proud to support and empower home workers, who are paid a fair price for their work. Stitch by stitch, the company contributes in a small way to help change lives. Stitch by Stitch was founded by designer Graham Hollick after several life-changing trips to India. Graham is joined by his co-director Karen Sear Shimalli, who with Graham, studied textile design at the respected Winchester School of Art.
